details

I used cardboard to mock out the piano. So I know the size and style.

For the piano leg, the hardest part is the carved patterns. Instead of carving on wood, I cut out the general form in balsa wood then I build up the detail with clay. Clay has a smoother surface which is helpful for later molding and casting.

Happy casting time!!

Same idea for the Piano pedals

Based on the cardboard mock-up, I drew out the laser-cut pattern in illustrator. I design with a seamless connection technique. Every part is super easy to put together and has a small number of seams.

Because the corner of the piano is too sharp and small. After trying several curved laser-cut bent wood Patterns with different wood, I found that hand cut this corner in Balsa wood might be the best option.

Building time!!
